Stop Giving a SH!T
Now, I think I can speak for every entrepreneur that is having to endure what we are right now, that NONE of us ever thought a pandemic would take a toll on doing what we LOVE for a living. We’re riding the wave of this whole thing just like you.
If any of us had a dollar for the amount of times we’ve been asked…
What are you going to do?
Are you okay?
How are you not making money?
Are you stressed about what’s going on?
Did you apply for a loan?
Do you think you’re going to need a loan?
Or hearing my favorite lines thus far…
Oh god I couldn’t even imagine not having a salary.
I’d quit.
It’s not worth it.
Damn. That sucks.
For every single person that opened their own business, that has had nights of zero sleep planning and working on things that take copious amounts of energy and thought. For every person that has taken the risk of chasing a dream to be able to create a life they wanted for themselves. For every person that decided to say f*ck it and stick it to the corporate America man.
Through all of this I have learned that anyone in the retail, beauty, food and beverage, photography and event businesses, has battled with feeling less than. Some days we feel inferior because we didn’t chase a salaried position, we decided to risk everything we have for a dream. We have decided to capitalize on our trade to create revenue to put food on the table, knowing that we will either sink or swim.
Every small business has a story. I hope one day I can fill all of you in on mine. But personally, I knew that I wanted to do this because I love nothing more than getting to be able to be a part of beautiful wedding days. Wedding days that are filled with excitement and every single emotion you could possibly fill into one day.
So my advice to everyone during this time. Stop giving a SH!T. Stop worrying, stop building up restless energy. If one day you work on your dream for an hour or one day you work 20 hours, it’s okay. We have no idea what the future days hold. We have no idea when we will be able to do what we love again. There have been days where you have thrown your arms in the air and yelled “F*CK THIS” and those days are going to happen again..and again. Keep going.
Everyone that has shopped small and continues to support dreams. Thank you. Thank you for not giving a sh!t. You’re supporting us because you want to, and not giving a sh!t about when your next appointment is or that we can’t see you right now. When you support our dream, the amount of gratitude that fills our souls, I can’t even put into words. Without you we don’t get to do what we do.
I can’t wait to see how badass every single small business is on the other side of this.
Until then..
— cheers.

Elizabeth
